1. The moral problem of trading
Online trading (or trading online) is a speculative practice, a negative behavior of the individual in the moral and religious context.
Making speculative transactions by means of trading is a negative practice in a human perspective, regardless of the collateral effects on the market; in fact making money with money is a wrong activity with reference to the moral and religious principles.
Trading causes a dangerous attachment to money that leads an individual to spend his
life looking for profit; this is contrary to religious morality.
A major concern is the moral evaluation of the behavior of individuals within the economic system; an individual should avoid speculative practices like trading, morally reprehensible even if within the legal limits that are different in each country."The social and legal endorsement does not exempt each individual from moral responsibility."
2. The idolatry of money
".. cause of this situation is found in our relationship with money, since we calmly accept its dominion over ourselves and our societies. The current financial crisis can make us overlook the fact that it originated in a profound human crisis: the denial of the primacy of the human person! We have created new idols. The worship of the ancient golden calf (cf. Ex 32:1-35) has returned in a new and ruthless guise in the idolatry of money and the dictatorship of an impersonal economy lacking a truly human purpose. The worldwide crisis affecting finance and the economy lays bare their imbalances and, above all, their lack of real concern for human beings; man is reduced to one of his needs alone: consumption."

6:10 -- For the love of money is a
root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have
wandered from their faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

Summary of guidelines
In order to maintain a correct personal behavior avoiding any kind of immoral attitude in the religious context, an individual should
operate with a medium-long term horizon (a period of more than 1 year as stated by the economic and accounting principles and that is proper of investing) avoiding any kind of modalities, information and
instruments for the pursuit of profit in the short-term, even if within the legal limits which, anyway, are different in each country. Stock investing should be limited to the long-term ownership of companies operating in ethical business; furthermore, any hazard in the expected return on the invested capital must be avoided.

Since the completely safe asset does not exist, a person can never accumulate enough to feel totally safe. The search for such security is a chasing after the wind – we are never satiated, no matter how much we possess. It is wiser not to begin the pursuit (e.g. Ecclesiastes 5:10; 6:7).
